Any object, large or small, is a result of an entry into the Vectorworks database.
We can use this data to either manipulate the characteristics of an object or generate inventories and schedules of equipment, materials, and other resources that can be used to manage a project or event.
Record Formats
Record formats are a resource that can be created and stored using the Resource Manager. You can attach large amounts of data to any object in Vectorworks by adding one of these items.
Once you have done so, the data can be extracted and used to visually analyze or illustrate a space, or populate worksheet reports for adding to the drawing or exporting to a spreadsheet.
Data Visualization
This concept will let you choose the graphic attributes of geometry based on its object Type or the Data it holds.
AutoCad users who are used to the "ByLayer/ByType" functions will find this functionality here.
Data Tags
These items are an instant way to display the data of an object in the drawing. They can be styled using most of the 2D Drawing Tools and can also be set up to respond to Data Visualization.
Inventory and Equipment Lists
There is a very specific menu command that is designed solely for entertainment and events users. Its purpose is to count Plug-in objects and Symbols and compare the quantities used in the drawing with Inventory files stored on your computer or within a Workgroup.
Label Formats
Label Formats will generate printable labels from any data that can be added to a Worksheet. The Create Labels Command will help you do that.
Worksheets
Worksheets are like spreadsheets. They contain lists of data that are drawn from the Vectorworks database. As every single object in a CAD drawing is created using this database, information about the objects you have created is limited only by the questions you ask.
Worksheets contain the Criteria for choosing the objects you want to examine and the Functions for helping you ask the questions.
